January 11, is Amelia Earhart Day!
Zonta clubs around the world celebrate Amelia Earhart's groundbreaking achievements and courageous spirit throughout the month of January; however, 11 January was chosen as Amelia Earhart Day to commemorate the day the legendary pilot and Zontian became the first woman to fly solo over the Pacific Ocean.
Many clubs use this opportunity to encourage donations to the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund. Established in 1938, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program provides US$10,000 Fellowships to 35 women around the world each year.
