Projects
Families First
The Zonta Club of Burbank Area continues to expand its relationship with Families First. After an initial donation of children’s furniture, the club has in 2003/2004 donated $1,500. An additional $500 donation was made in honor of 2003 Burbank Woman of the Year, Mary Alice O’Connor, a founding board member of Burbank Family Services. A further donation of $500 was made in 2004/2005.
Literacy

The Zonta Club is involved in literacy projects with the library and schools. We participate in the Burbank Library's annual Trivia Challenge and their Barnes & Noble holiday gift wrapping program to support literacy services. We also make an annual donation of books to Burbank Elementary Schools.
Scholarships
The Zonta Club of Burbank Area awards scholarships annually to city high school seniors planning to pursue higher education. Application forms are available through the counseling offices at all Burbank high schools.
This year the Burbank Zonta Club was pleased to award one thousand dollars each to five high school seniors. This money may be used for tuition and books. The successful recipients of this award were Jane Park (Providence High School), Whitney White (John Burroughs High School), Ani Akopoyan (Bellarmine-Jefferson High School), Sara Youn (Burbank High School) and Kelsey Jackson (Monterey High School). In presenting the scholarships, President Wyatt commented that many outstanding applications were received and the process was highly competitive. However, these 5 winners stood head and shoulders above the rest because of their involvement in school activities and outstanding volunteerism.
Zonta Roses
In honor of Zonta Rose Day on March 8, the Zonta Club of Burbank donated two yellow rose bushes for planting in the gardens of the new Buena Vista Library. Yellow roses are a Zonta symbol. The Zonta Club plans to make a similar donation annually as part of its commitment to keep Burbank beautiful.
