About The Zonta Club of Burbank Area
For 75 years, the Zonta Club of Burbank Area has been identifying issues affecting the status of women in our community. Since its chartering in 1936, the Zonta Club has brought together business executives and professionals willing to volunteer their time to raise money, advocate and provide direct service to women in need.
Through Zonta International, our members have influenced many of the most important political and cultural gains women have made in the world in the past 90 years. Zontians have impacted the lives of tens of thousands of women and children around the world through service projects in developing countries. We've helped women realize achievement goals through scholarships for higher education.
During the past decade we have:
• Raised and distributed more than $100,000
• Funded 50 scholarships for high school students pursuing higher education
• Donated several hundred teddy bears and other toys to the police department to comfort distressed children
• Provided more than 200 books telling stories of women’s achievements to elementary schools in Burbank
• Provided financial support for Burbank Family Services
• Made annual donations of blankets, toiletries and other supplies to the Burbank Temporary Aid Center
• Furnished a Zonta rose garden at the Buena Vista Library
• Annually celebrated and publicized outstanding achievement by community women through the Woman of the Year honor
• Participated in community service events such as Christmas hamper assembly and distribution, food service at Burbank Winter Shelter, Burbank on Parade etc.
• Brought women’s issues before Burbank City Council through Proclamations
